Admission Requirements and Documents

  1. Admission Requirement: You should have an LLB degree with a Second Class Upper (2:1) or higher.
  2. Transcripts: Upload unofficial electronic versions on the online application portal. If admitted into the program, you will be required to submit Official transcripts. Official transcripts should be sent to York directly from previous educational institutions.
  3. English Language Proficiency: If English is not your first language, test scores of either of the following are acceptable: TOEFL, IELTS, YELT, YUELI, CAEL, CPE, CAE.  
  4. Reference Letters: Two references and must have official email addresses. The university will contact them directly to request for reference. At least one must be an academic reference.
  5. Statement of Interest/Research Proposal: Applicants must submit a 2-3 page Research Proposal, which should articulate a) a Research Question, b) a Research Methodology, and c) a Theoretical Framework. Your Research Proposal should include the relevant body of scholarship central to your thesis; a bibliography should be included in the Research proposal. Applicants will submit 5 keywords or phrases that best describe their research.
  6. Research Supervisor: Applicants should contact a potential supervisor who may be interested in supervising your proposed research.
  7. Writing Sample: Submit a 5000-10,000 word published article in a reputable journal. If you do not have a published article, submit an unpublished writing sample.
  8. Resume: A Curriculum Vitae or Resume should provide details on academic, extracurricular, and professional activities. The document should normally be no more than three (3) or four (4) pages but could be longer where an applicant’s record of achievement is particularly extensive.
  9. Program Duration: 1 year.
  10. Program Start Date: Fall (August/September) each year.
  11. Application Deadline: December each year.
  12. Supplementary Information Form (SIF).

Fees and Scholarship

  1. Application Fee: $130.
  2. Tuition: fee per term is $6,528.84 and you are expected to register for 3 terms. Note that tuition is updated periodically by the school you may wish to contact the school for further details.
  3. Funding: $19,265 for the year of the degree.

M.Sc. in Computer Science (Thesis-based) – Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada

Admission Requirements and Documents

  1. Admission Requirement: At least a Bachelor’s degree (major in Computer Science or Computer Engineering) with a minimum grade of 75%.
  2. Transcripts: For all university degrees earned, official transcripts must be sent directly by the issuing institution. Transcripts not in English or French must include an official translation.
  3. Test score: International students are strongly advised to submit a GRE test result.
  4. English Language Proficiency: If English is not your first language, or you did not study in an English-speaking country, test scores of either of the following are acceptable: IELTS, TOEFL, or CAEL.
  5. Reference Letters: Two references and at least 1 must be from an academic referee. The reference letters must be sent from an institutional email address.
  6. Research Supervisor: Contact a potential supervisor who may be interested in supervising your proposed research after the application has been made.
  7. Statement of Research Interest: One of these areas must be selected as your sub-specialty area in your Statement of Research Interest. You can choose up to three areas. It is essential to have a complete statement of motivation page during the Application.
  8. Resume: Except otherwise advised by the school, it is helpful to include a resume to advance your application.

  12.   12. Applicants must choose either Thesis or Course-based pathway during their application.
